TAGGED: NATE WORDS: 774 NOTES: ---
sitting cross legged on her bed, isis glared at the syringe one of the doctors had carelessly forgotten on the desk at the other end of the room on their way out. actually, she couldn't even be sure if they had just left it by accident or on purpose, to test her. this made her glare a little longer. she was sure it was mocking her. although there was nothing in it, she knew what it meant. it meant blood. or at least, it poked into you and either took blood from you or pushed weird liquid into you. just thinking about it was giving her the shivers. its long needle was missing, thankfully, though even still it only made her feel partially better. it was still there. now the question was should she wait here with it to give it back to the doctor if he passed her room, or go to him and give it. but that would mean carrying it and this was seriously out of the question. finally, throwing her hands up like an exasperated child isis just decided to ignore it all.
grabbing her sweater from the floor she aimed and threw it over onto the syringe so it was out of view. sighing with relief she jumped off her bed and questioned what to do with the rest of the day. looking outside to the window, it seemed a bit too dreary to do anything on that end, but sitting around doing nothing inside didn't bring on a sense of joy either. sometimes isis felt like such a cry baby, sitting around saying no to all these awesome activities, afraid that somehow it'll all end badly with the sight of blood and she'll just relapse. breathing in slowly, she closed her eyes tightly and repeated to herself - the only way she'd get better was by going out of her comfort zone and learning to trust other things. opening them again she went down a list of her activity options.
the gym was out of the question, too many weird machines which might cause an injury. such as sliding off the treadmill and hurting oneself - she'd seen it in movies and it didn't look pretty. or those weights and you accidentally get caught under all of them. the library was a no too, she spent most of her time there already and had probably read at least half of the books there anyway. or maybe a quarter now because somehow the rehab was helping a little and the mention of blood wasn't too bad anymore. the computer lab was a no, she couldn't see what business she'd have there anyway. she'd already email'd her friends back home. and a quarter of the time, there were sex addicts sitting there in the corner away from surveillance jerking off to internet porn. disgusting and revolting, and not a large enough fraction to make her want to risk going. the rec room was an idea but she only really ever went there if she knew people who knew her were there. and the cafeteria was a no because she already felt like she was getting chubby enough.
so, isis finally came up with the brilliant plan of going to the pool. it was fun, it'd shave some of that horrible weight she'd gained lately off, and it was usually quiet around this time in the afternoon with people having visitors, snacking, hanging out, etc. so she skipped over to her dresser and grabbed her bikini, changing quickly and then using her sweater to cover up to run down the hall. she'd forgotten though that she'd stuck the sweater over the syringe and she almost screamed when it popped up again. calming herself down she grabbed her towel and practically sprinted down to the pool.
as she'd expected, the pool was bitterly quiet with no soul in site except one other girl who was packing up and leaving. isis smiled awkwardly as she passed and then walked over to the chair and shed her sweater. "echo!" she giggled like a child as her echo echoed off the walls. as a child she'd always found that part to be the highlight of going to a pool. and since she was alone now, aside from surveillance, she could make a fool of herself by doing that and not get judged by anyone else. moving on, she tip toed towards the edge of the water and bent down to test it with her finger. it was luke warm and nothing bad. kneeling down she slipped into the water and swam to the other end.
