an eating disorder is characterized by abnormal eating habits that may involve either insufficient or excessive food intake to the detriment of an individual's physical and emotional health. in this group it's included the anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and others!
alcoholic.
alcoholism is any condition that results in the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, despite health problems and negative social consequences. modern medical definitions describe alcoholism as a disease and addiction which results in a persistent use of alcohol despite negative consequences.
druggie.
drug addiction is a pathological or abnormal condition which arises due to frequent drug use. the disorder of addiction involves the progression of acute drug use to the development of drug-seeking behavior, the vulnerability to relapse, and the decreased, slowed ability to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli.
suicide.
suicide is the intentional killing of oneself. the most common cause is an underlying mental disorder which include depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, alcoholism and drug abuse. financial difficulties or other undesirable situations play a significant role.
sex addict.
sexual addiction refers to the phenomenon in which individuals report being unable to manage their sexual behavior. it has also been called "sexual dependency," and "sexual compulsivity."
phobia.
a phobia is an intense and persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people. the main symptom of this disorder is the excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared stimulus. when the fear is beyond one's control, and if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.
manic depressant.
manic–depressive disorder, also known as bipolar disorder, is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a category of mood disorders defined by the presence of one or more episodes of abnormally elevated mood.
schizophrenic.
schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality. it most commonly manifests as auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking with significant social or occupational dysfunction.
doctor.
the doctors are the ones responsible for the well being of the patients and also the one that tries find the solutions to each patients disorders.
nurse.
the nurses are the ones that help the doctors, they usually give the necessary medicine to the patients but some of them aren't as loyal to their jobs as they supposedly are.
intern.
the interns, are here to learn and to someday get to the position of doctor, they are competitive and some have disorders just like the patients but they keep them in secret. they are actually good at it too..
security.
the securities are here to make sure the building is secure and that the patients are quiet and not causing any disturbance. they are huge and with muscles, they know how to make one man fall to the ground and make sure he won't get up, they are extra strong.
janitor.
the janitors, they clean the facility, they are usually the older people there, they are also ex facility patients that didn't have anywhere to go, they stayed, some are fully recovered, others not really.
citizen.
the citizens are the others from the island, they are pretty normal, most of the time, they don't have any disorder or addiction but some have it they just refuse to become a patient because they have pride and don't want it to be broken.
psychosis.
people experiencing psychosis may report hallucinations or delusional beliefs, and may exhibit personality changes and thought disorder. this may be accompanied by unusual or bizarre behavior, as well as difficulty with social interaction and impairment in carrying out the daily life activities.
sexsomnia.
is a sleep disorder which causes people to commit sexual acts while they are asleep. it is considered to be a distinct variant of sleepwalking.sexsomnia is not always problematic or extreme for those who experience it or for their partners. there is a great variety in both the frequency and levels to which people are affected by this disorder.
narcolepsy.
is a neurological sleep disorder that is commonly associated with falling asleep at random times. narcoleptics tend to fall directly into REM sleep, when most dreaming occurs, and less commonly enter deeper and more restful stages of non-REM sleep. as a result, they are unable to stay awake for extended periods of time, and upon falling back asleep, they still are unable experience sleep’s more restorative stages – - causing a vicious cycle of extreme sleepiness and inability to stay awake after having slept. another symptom can include cataplexy, the sudden collapse of an individual into REM sleep upon experiencing strong emotions. sleep paralysis and hypnogogic hallucinations (hallucinations which accompany sleep paralysis) are also known to be symptoms. the cause of narcolepsy has not been determined. it is widely believed to be an autoimmune disorder, but it may also be genetic.
violence disorder.
an offence committed when a person use or threaten unlawful violence. the collective conduct must be such as would have caused a reasonable person to fear for his safety, though no-one else need be present. “violence” includes violent conduct towards property as well as persons and extends to conduct causing or intended to cause injury or damage.
stages
stage one - this stage is the not dangerous one, these patients usually have their disorder somewhat controlled but still they collapse once in a while, but don't get fooled, they still have a long way to go till they are fully recovered.
stage two - this stage is a bit dangerous but not too much, they can control their disorder but they collapse more times, they usually can't stand three days without manifesting themselves. they have a long way to go, even bigger than the stage one ones.
stage three - this stage is dangerous, these are the patients that manifest their disease more times but they don't contribute any danger to others, they can't control themselves, they usually end up manifesting them everyday, they are constantly trying to find a way to escape the facility. they end up never finding their complete recovery.
stage four - this stage is the most dangerous of them all, these patients contribute with danger for themselves and others, they can't control their behavior in anyway, they are capable of anything, even killing to get what they need. these are often locked, or with lost of sedatives, but most of them can fake very well and can pass for a stage one or two when they are clearly a stage four patient. they never end up recovering completely, only moving on stage.
